Minute With Max: Alimony

A main issue in every divorce case is alimony. Alimony can be a little tricky. You have to do a calculation. and that calculation looks at the need vs. the ability to pay. If one party has a need, and the other party has the ability to pay, the court could possibly order alimony on the case. A new law just went into effect a few years ago and that law puts a cap on the amount of alimony that can be paid. The cap is 35% of the disparity in the net income of the parties.
