Child support is based on calculations that you plug in. These include: how much money Mom makes, how much money Dad makes, how much the health insurance is, and which parent pays for it, and how much time each parent is with the child. Once you plug that into the calculator, it kicks out a number that tells us how much child support is. The court can only deviate from this number by + or - 5%. So the court pretty much has to follow the calculation.
